Tyana is a Licensed Professional Counselor offering individual and family counseling services for adults. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern University at New Orleans and completed her graduate education at Loyola University New Orleans, receiving a Master of Science in Counseling in 2002.
Tyana has worked in mental health since 1999, beginning her career at DePaul Tulane Behavioral Health Center. She later served as the admissions counselor for the Eating Disorders and Trauma programs at River Oaks Hospital. Her experience spans inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings. Tyana currently maintains a private practice in Homewood. Her areas of expertise include relationship challenges, depression, eating disorders, grief, and loss. She is certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFCT) and individuals (EFIT). Within this model, developed by Sue Johnson, painful and frightening emotions are explored and processed to build emotional resilience and foster safety within oneself and in meaningful relationships with others.
Tyana believes her role as a therapist is to foster growth and encourage awareness in her client’s life.
